  Design Guides:
Pedestrian | Heavy Vehicular

The Brick Industry Association created two design manuals:

Flexible Brick Paving: this manual details the basic design elements of clay brick paving on a base of crushed stone and a bedding course of sand. The advantages of clay pavers are discussed along with a discussion of ASTM C 902 Pedestrian and Light Traffic Paving Brick. Flexible base paving is the most economic and most durable form of segmental pavements.

Vehicular Brick Pavements:
This manual details the design, make-up and construction of segmental vehicular pavements. The AASHTO and Caltrans methods are discussed as well as specific detailing related to street pavement design. Authored by world renowned paving expert, Mark Smallridge, this is a must read for someone designing heavy vehicular segmental pavements. Mr. Smallridge is the principal of Nigel Nixon Associates here in the US. He can be reached @ his Dallas office (972) 624-8817 or MSAImark@cs.com.
